Maya Heeps

Maya Heeps, a second-year Biochemistry major, has been working at the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory since Fall 2024. Her passion for plants was sparked by childhood visits to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena. She maintains a personal collection of plants, with a particular fondness for Pinguicula (butterworts), a genus of carnivorous flowering plants. Maya enjoys all aspects of her work at the conservatory, from propagation to learning alongside fellow employees. Outside of plant care, she is passionate about fiber arts, music, and spending time outdoors.
