The Botanical Conservatory provides volunteer opportunities for hands-on experience in plant propagation, greenhouse care, and supporting plant sales, with a focus on learning about diverse and unique plant species.
Opportunities for Volunteers
The Conservatory welcomes volunteers to assist with plant care and propagation and helping prepare plants for year-round sales. Volunteers gain hands-on experience with cuttings, plant division, and transplanting while learning about unique species, including orchids, cacti, ferns, and carnivorous plants.
Who Can Volunteer?
- Students (UC Davis and Non-UC Davis): If you are a student interested in gaining plant-growing experience, check out our Internship page for opportunities.
- Non-Students: Volunteer Night has been discontinued due to increased student participation. However, non-students interested in volunteering can email Marlene Simon (mrsimon@ucdavis.edu) to inquire about available opportunities.
Greenhouse Experience
Many volunteers enjoy visiting the greenhouse each week to check on their favorite plants. When something especially interesting is happening, Conservatory staff often share insights and mini-lectures about fascinating plant adaptations.
