Marlene Simon is the curator at the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory, where she manages a diverse collection of over 4,000 plant species. Her responsibilities include preparing plants for classes, leading tours, and overseeing pest control.
A University of California, Davis alumna, Marlene earned her degree in horticulture and gained practical experience as an intern at the Conservatory during her undergraduate studies.
Beyond her work at UC Davis, Marlene is known as "The Plant Lady" on Good Day Sacramento, where she shares gardening tips and insights. She also hosts the "Flower Power Garden Hour" podcast, featuring interviews with experts in gardening, DIY projects, and environmental sciences.
Marlene's expertise spans urban farming, succulents, unique edibles, and rare plants like corpse flowers and orchids. Her passion for horticulture and dedication to education make her an invaluable asset to the Conservatory and the broader gardening community.
